Since I installed the Movable Type on my laptop which runs Windows xp, I have suffered a lot from the windows file system permission settings. Here is some typical errors if you do not set the proper permission of your files in the “Intepubwwwroot” directory.
Plugin error:
Can’t locate C:inetpubwwwrootMTpluginsPreviousNextInCategory.pl at lib/MT.pm line 551.
It occurs when I copy a plugin to the “plugins” directory.
rebuild error:
Renaming tempfile ‘C:inetpubwwwrootatom.xml.new’ failed: Renaming ‘C:inetpubwwwrootatom.xml.new’ to ‘C:inetpubwwwrootatom.xml’ failed: Permission denied
It occurs when I rebuild my site.
If you just test your MT in your own computer, then it will be easy to solve this problem. In my way, maybe it is not safe enough, I just change the permission of “wwwroot” folder to be writable for the IIS guest account. See the picture below:
