It’s a wonderful weekend. I just arranged with Hurrican and his gf to play badminton together at first. I got up very late (sometimes I am very lazy especially at weekend) and when I got Xujiahui, it was almost 11:00 am. The first thing I should do is to buy a badminton racket. But After searching for a cheap rackets around Xujiahui together with my brother, I can’t find a little cheap one. Most of the badminton rackets in Xujiahui is above 300rmb and some up to 1000rmb. Finally, I had to give up and said goodbye to Hurrican.
Then I begin wandering around the city for about 7 hours! It’s really a frightening number and also the world record for me. I bought two pairs of trousers, one shirt and an ‘YONEX™‘ badminton racket. I will explain why I quoted the word YONEX™ late. During this shopping experience I have learned one thing from my brother, that is, there are some covered shop selling cheap but good clothes in this city. These shops often named like “外å•åå“店” in Chinese. They sell the clothes which are made in China and should be exported to foreign countries. My brother is a fashion designer and he can tell many famous brands. The brands such as MTSBW, and GIORDANO are all garbage in his eyes. He introduced me some brands like LEVI’S and G-STAR. When I took a look at the price tags of these brands, I can hardly find one which is under 1k rmb. Then he lead me to a plaza beside Jing’an Temple and broken into some clothes shops. He helps himself find some clothes are so similar that unless you are expert, you can’t tell the differences between the one in the special counter. At last, he spent 150rmb on a pair of G-Star jeans and I bought a pair of LEVI’S jeans only 130rmb. I thought it must be a fake. But my brother insisted that it was export sale.
After I bought the LEVI’S™ jeans, we went to Xiangyang Road which may be known by many foreigners. I am still wondering why foreigners like to go there and buy the fakes of Adidas, Nike etc. At first I think it’ no time to buy a racket. But I happened to find a nice badminton racket. So after some hard bargaining about the price, I got it with 80rmb. Definitely it was a fake. But it’s ridiculous that when my brother took this fake when we were in the paris-spring shopping center later, a guy stopped us and asked where we bought this badminton racket. My brother told him that he bought it in Nanjing Road with 800rmb. He examined my racket for a few minutes and was truly believed what my brother said. It’s so funny!
Anther interesting thing is that we met three foreigners came from different countries at McDonald’s. It was very crowed in the McDonald’s Restaurant the time we had supper. I guess the main reason is the prize is more sense than most of the restaurants nearby. When we finished our meals and was ready to go. Three old ladies came up and sat with us. One of them said hello to us and asked whether we speak English. My brother replied, “Only a little!†Than this “only a little†triggered a long(about 1 hour) conversation in McDonald’s. One of them came from U.S. and she had been retried from IBM. When I told her that I am a Software Engineer, she said I could also come to IBM. Haha, I would like to, while IBM may not. They just had returned from Hangzhou and would go to Hong Kong next day. They praised Hangzhou ceaselessly and said the West Lake is so beautiful and peaceful… We talked and laughed from time to time and attracted many people around us.
