House hunting at Paya Lebar

I went to this place called, Paya Lebar where our Singapore offices will be relocated in March. The condominium that the agent showed me was nice and modern. it is connected to a large shopping mall. In particular, the pool is amazing.

When I went outside, a large group of women sat under the shadow of trees. They seem to be a large population of Malay Muslim here. I will keep searching see whether I can find better ones.

Today, I found a Japanese vegetarian restaurant also known as shōjin ryōri (精進料理) in the bustling street of Roppongi, center Tokyo! The food was exceptionally well prepared and tasty. Loved it!

Here is where you can find it. It is quite hidden, but right behind the roppongi crossing!

Leaving Japan Soon

Dear my friends in Tokyo,

Time flies! It has been almost ten years since I arrived this island, which I think I can call as my second hometown.

As some of you may already know that, I am leaving Japan soon for good – my company is relocating me to Singapore. Before saying Sayonara to Japan, I would like to catch up with anyone whoever wants to say goodbye! You have my contact, text me,  let’s grab a coffee, beer or lunch!

Beer from local supermarket

First of all, I don’t live in a trend place like Azabu or Roppongi, where a plethora of imported acholic drinks are available in their supermarket. I have a limited choice of beers in my local grocery store, however I managed to try all of them for the last two weeks!

Having tried of them, I think the French beer Biere Blanche is my favorite. It has strong fruit favour.

My next goal would be trying a different craft beer that people say many good things about. Someone Internet even claim that it have more health benefit than red wine.

A working Wednesday

Today, I had this idea of recording a normal morning on the way to work.  This idea comes from a university friend asking me sharing some photos of the streets in tokyo. I thought this also could a good source of photos to reminisce about a normal working day in Tokyo in the future.

This is the apartment in Yoyogi-Uehara where I had lived since 2009.

Happy Mother’s Day

Mom… There was time when I was annoyed by your nagging about things.

But no matter what we went through, I want to say “I love you so much”.

Thanks for everything you have given to me.

one of best cooks

Food has always been an important part of my family, or I would say every Chinese family.  My mother comes from a small village in China, where simple but a large variety of vegetable are usually cooked. When I was young, I sometime complained about the food she prepared for the lack of variation. Then I grew up, and left home for university and I had to cook for myself. I started to realise that I should have never said such things to people who prepared food for you.

Mother’s day is around the corner, and I am very prod of her.She is the best cook of Chinese food in my heart.

Luncheon with Sasaki San

It is a great honour to be invited to have lunch with our senior in Nomura, Sasaki-san, whose father is Taiwanese and mother is Japanese. He has been organising various events amongst the oversea Chinese community in Tokyo, devoting his time to improving the relationship and understandings between young Chinese and Japanese. He is now working in Okura hotel after retiring from Nomura. Thanks to his position, we have a discount in this Chinese restaurant in Okura.

Halloween Party

The popularity of this American culture has explored in Japan recently, and this perfectly matches the costume culture in Japan. I was invited to one of Sayaka’s friend’s Halloween party

小惠

Today, Anthony and I encountered something unusual on a rainy cold evening in Ebisu.

When we walked down to the Ebisu station from Ebisu garden place after dinner. We heard some meowing! – It was a kitten in the bushes along the road. She was starving, exhausted, trembling and terrified. But she is so adorable and lovely.

“Someone must have abandoned her. We can’t leave her like this~” – we spoke in unison.

We decided to take her home and to give her a new life.

Now, she found it quite comfortable at her new home. I named her 小恵 after Ebisu(恵比寿)

She is also an avid reader
